International data service provider GigSky today announced that it will offer cellular data plans for iPad travelers with the Apple SIM in more than 90 countries and territories. Jailbreak group TaiG has released an iOS 8.4 hack, mere hours after the official Apple release of the new OS. The new software revision uses the same exploit that the group used just days ago for iOS 8.3, allowing users to install the Cydia repository, and other phone software tweaks, at the cost of some device security regarding execution of arbitrary code. The hack requires a Windows PC, iTunes, and the newly released 2.2.0 version of the group's tool....

Uber acquires Bing mapping assets, 100 employees from Microsoft

Uber is significantly bolstering its mapping operations and research, by acquiring technology and staff from Microsoft for an as-yet undisclosed amount. Map-related assets from Bing are being passed on to the app-based taxi firm, reports TechCrunch, with approximately 100 employees also being transferred over as part of the purchase, in yet another navigation-related acquisition from the transport company....

Hands On: Apple Music (iOS, OS X, Windows)

Just spotted on one of our reviewers' Facebook page: a music fan has written "so long Spotify, it was good while it lasted." Apple updates Safari, releases first 9.0 beta, offers EFI security fix

Among a storm of major updates, Apple has also issues updated versions of Safari for the three versions of OS X currently supported: Mountain Lion (10.8), Mavericks (10.9), and Yosemite (10.10).
